XTS Rating: 9- Apart from being a beautiful, white sandy beach with palm trees, glittering water and tropical sun, Ko Pha Ngan is home to one of the world’s biggest parties- The Full Moon Party. About once a month on every full moon, thousands visitors from around the world flock to Ko Pha Ngan’s Haadrin Beach to have the bash of a lifetime. The celebration became so big that the island even began holding half moon parties that take place in the jungle rather than the beach. While drugs are technically illegal in all Thailand, Ko Pha Ngan is virtually an exception since you are offered just about anything when checking into your bungalow or hostel.
The downside to Ko Pha Ngan is that it really is too fun. You’ll party until your body hates you forever and there’s a strong chance that your brain will never fully recover. It’s also a bit touristy and becoming more so every year, meaning the once underground party shines like a full moon on the tourist map.
