Guadalajara (pop. 4.3 million) is the country’s second biggest city and a hot spot for traditional Mexican culture, food, music and arts. Guadalajara is also the nation’s leader in information technology, earning it the nickname “The Silicon Valley of Mexico.” The city is known for the CD Chivas, Guadalajara Cathedral, Mariachis and Agave cultivation to produce Tequila.
Mexico City (pop. 21 million) is the country’s capital, financial center and cultural hub. The Distrito Federal, or DF for short, lies in the valley of a dried up lake bed and is the same site of the former Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan. The city has numerous famous monuments like the Angel of Independence Statue, The Palace of Fine Arts, The National Palace of Mexico and the Torre Latinoamericana (the region’s first skyscraper).
Acapulco (pop. 700,000) is an international tourist destination located in the southwestern state of Guerrero, Mexico. It boasts the largest beach in Mexico and is dotted with uncountable high rise hotel, condominiums and discos.
Cancun (pop. 500,000) is located in the northern tip of the Yucutan Peninsula on the Caribbean coast. The Glistening City is an international tourist destination defined by world renowned beaches, large hotel chains and Mayan ruins close at hand.
