Havana (pop. 2 million) is the capital, largest and most important city of the Caribbean nation. The island’s hub in the middle of the 20th century was a major tourist destination for Americans, especially gangsters and celebrities. Now, the municipality is recognized for El Capitolio, the Great Theater of Havana and Fidel Castro.
