Ko Samui, or Samui for short, is Thailand’s second largest island. It’s located off the southeastern coast of the nation and about a 3 hour ferry from the mainland. Samui is known for its spectacular beaches, diving and hip bars located on the shore.
XTS Rating: 7- Any beautiful beach get high marks on the XTS scale because let’s face it- beaches are awesome! Samui is super laid back and the perfect place to relax after puncturing holes in your liver in Bangkok or deep frying your brain in neighboring Ko Pha Ngan. Samui is like the responsible big brother Thailand who sees himself more mature than the blacksheep of Thailand’s other party/tourist destinations.
Ko Samui is cool if you’re looking to relax, period. If you want to party, take the next ferry out to Ko Pha Ngan and join the other crazy lunatics.
Ko Pha Ngan is a small island located off the country’s southeastern coast in the Gulf of Thailand. Ko Pha Ngan is world famous for one reason-Full Moon Parties.
