The US has long been the international leader in entertainment, TV and movies. That coupled with the fact that English is the world’s most prominent international language has made it possible for the US to not only create hilarious shows, but to export them easily around the globe. And while many American jokes consist of people making fun of the US, it’s hard not to admit that American humor, no matter how dumb it may be, makes you laugh.
Rounding off the number two spots of the Badoo “most funny country” poll are Spain and Italy, respectively. Apparently the Mediterranean humor of Southern Europe beats its EU counterparts in the north when it comes laughs (although this isn’t true with economics). And that will bring us to the next point- the world’s least funny countries.
Germany ranked number one in the world’s least funny country survey. This should not be a surprise… Rounding out the top four of the least funny country list is Russia, Turkey and, surprisingly, Great Britain, respectively.
While everyone knows the Russians aren’t renowned for their humor (although some Putin, USSR and drunk Russian jokes are absolutely hilarious), the UK on the other hand is. The UK has produced comic icons such as Mr. Bean, Monty Python and The Office. The UK also has a very different cultural approach to humor than the Americans and often competes with her trans-Atlantic cousin over what true hilarity is.
