XTS Rating: 5- Quito is a historic city with nice people, good food and reasonable prices. But, that’s about it. There’s really nothing else that separates from other Latino cities. On the other hand, there’re some amazing hikes and treks on the outskirts of town.
Quito is jammed with study abroad students from the US trying to learn Spanish, meaning there’s a tsunami of western influence mainly in New Town. The altitude can also really give you a kick if you’re not accustomed to it. When it’s said and done, Quito is neither phenomenal nor deplorable, rather comfortably average.
